Headers and C++20 Modules
How does code in one file use code written in another? Declarations vs definitions, #include as literal copy-paste (measured: a two-line Hello World expands to over 66,000 lines), the cost of headers, the One Definition Rule, why templates live in headers, and how C++20 modules fix it.
You will learn
- Separate declarations from definitions across files
- Explain what #include and a translation unit really are
- Apply the One Definition Rule
- Describe how C++20 modules improve on headers
