An aircraft flies above the sea, trying to catch a submarine that moves under the sea (treat both as moving in the same 2D horizontal plane) in a straight line at a constant speed. The submarine is completely invisible, but by using a human radar only once, the aircraft learns the exact location of the submarine at that moment, at some distance from the aircraft. The submarine's direction is unknown, but it never changes. The aircraft can move at twice the speed of the submarine. As soon as the aircraft is vertically above the submarine, it can magnetically pick it up. Can the aircraft be sure to catch the submarine? If yes, also figure out the time it would take; if no, prove why.
PS: This scene is from X-men: First Class. Good x-men are in the aircraft called blackbird, human radar is Banshee, Magnet is Magneto. Bad x-men are in submarine, with Sebastian Shaw is about to cause a war, better catch him soon!
